Air Purifiers – Help Choosing?

I am looking for an Air Purifier/Filter for my Room. Right now I am in a dorm room, about 15×15 feet not including the sink area and entrance. I wanted to get an air purifier that would give me some fresh air. Right now I have a tabletop Sharper Image Ionic Breeze and I notice a small difference in the air quality. I was looking at a Rabbit Air A2 model that was wall mountable, but it looked very expensive and had expensive filters. Anyone got any ideas?

I want it to have a larger coverage for when I move into a larger place (in another year to a year and a half). Noise is not too big of a deal, but it would be nice not to deal with.

Help choosing an Air Filter / Purifier?

I need an air filter/purifier for a 200 square foot room (12′x17′x9′). The sole purpose is to reduce dust. Healthy air is nice (a bonus), but it’s not my real concern… it’s dust.

This will be for a recording studio, so it needs to be quite.

I’ve spent about an hour doing research, and all I’ve been able to learn is that everyone says the Ionic Breeze is a scam (including studies who ran tests to see if it works, and the results showed it doesn’t), and there are hundreds and hundreds to choose from… too many choices… too much to learn… not enough time.

      What should I get?
      My budget is up-to 0

im allergic to dust mites…long time sufferer, and ive tried the ionic breeze and the Oreck XL, and those dont work worth crap. im still congested every morning with sore throat and headaches and i feel weak the whole day. i just need an air filter that works so i can breathe……does anyone know the best air filter out there for dust mites?…it would mean the world to me to find out. thanks in advance
Notice: I dont need help with anything but an air filter question. I already have followed dust mite precautions (bed covers, etc)…im just concerned with the air filtration.
I was just given a Thera Pure air filter as a gift…..has anyone heard anything about these?…its made by ionic Pro so im quite skeptical……it has a hepa like filter, but you never have to replace it, just vaccuum it……..if its anything like an ionic breeze, it wont work worth crap….let me know

Hi all – I’m looking to buy an air purifier for my bedroom (just over 150 sq.ft.), to help reduce dust, airborne allergens, etc. My mother smokes a lot, which also doesn’t help. Having been diagnosed with a (very) minor, restrictive lung disease, I’d like to start taking better care of my health – especially in regards to respiration. We do have the general air filter attached to the A/C / heating unit, but I would like something more.

Doing some research, I thought I would just get the Sharper Image Ionic Breeze, but have read many terrible things about it – specifically, the ozone produced is VERY bad for your health. Looking around, I found the Blueair 250E Digital Air Purifier (http://www.achooallergy.com/blueair250eairpurifier.asp#product_reviews) and the Air Lights Plasma Air Purifier (http://reviews.ebay.com/Review-of-the-Air-Lights-Plasma-Air-Purifier_W0QQugidZ10000000002480036).

I’m leaning towards the Blueair, but would like others input and suggestions!

I’ve research the air duct cleaning online and all the information says it doesn’t work, including the EPA website. What other alternatives do I have? And has anyone purchased air filtering systems? I’ve read that you have to be very careful about which ones you buy because many don’t work including the Sharper Image’s Ionic Breeze. I have horrible allergies and so does my roommate. We’ve both been sick so much more than usual.
I live in a city in the South and it’s not dusty really. I have storm windows and low electric bills because the house is so well insulated and built. We do have 4 dogs, 3 papillons who don’t shed, but one big guy who is a stray who does. I’ve also removed all the carpet from the house and we spent last year putting in ceramic tile throughout the house. Still, dust, dust, dust. I change the air filter every 30 days and trust me it’s needing it. I’ve been researching all day and am looking at the TRANE CleanEffects system. Has anyone had anyone experience with these types of systems?

I recently moved into a dorm and the first thing i noticed was it smelled musty. It’s virtually on basement level, faces north, and the grass is always damp. I wake up after a couple hours with a stuffy nose, red eyes, and aches. Also, could an ionic breeze filter out mold? Any suggestions on how to deal with problem would be great help.
