So my boyfriend and I decided we should get the Ionic Pro, which is similar to the Ionic Breeze. Which seem to make sense because we didn’t need to buy any filters for it ever. But as soon as we turned it on, my bf started to get dizzy, and chest pains. We researched it and found out that the Ionic type air cleaners emit OZONE, which can irritate your lung passage, and asthma. So we returned it the next day. We are thinking about getting a HEPA type air cleaner, but we don’t know which is the best deal… plus the cost for filters – our room seems to collect dust even the moment after we clean it. I recently purchased a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze GP Sl730 from a thrift store. When I took it home I started to use it and it went fine. But the aire or breeze it puts out is really slow. Even if the seeting was on Boost & Large room, So I immediately cleaned the blades, etc. and the insides hoping to fix it. But it didn’t the air it blows is still really slow. What do you think of it? I just got one for Xmas and I think it’s a little weird how it doesn’t blow air out evry well…as if it’s not circulating but I read that that’s just how it is. Also, I cleaned it twice already in 2 weeks and there was a film of white stuff on the blades. How "thick" does the dust get on it? Will it still keep picking up allergens and dust even if there’s already some on the blades?
Are there any air purifiers other than the Ionic Breeze that doesn’t need replacement filters? I read that Consumer Reports declared the Ionic Breeze ineffective in cleaning the air, and I want something that doesn’t need filters replaced.
